Overview
The purpose of this study is to explore what are the psychosocial factors influencing confidence in and acceptance of COVID-19 vaccination and how this compares with other adult vaccines such as influenza vaccination. The objectives will be to:
Primary Objectives
- To conduct an in-depth investigation of the psychosocial influences on COVID-19 vaccine confidence.
- To explore risk perceptions of other vaccine preventable diseases and adult vaccines and how these perceptions have changed as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Key Secondary Objectives
- To explore the influence of trust in vaccines, vaccine policies, processes, and providers on COVID-19 and influenza vaccine acceptance.
- To identify social and emotional determinants of health associated with COVID-19 and influenza vaccination views.
This study will use a mixed-methods approach, with study data collected via a combination of quantitative surveys and qualitative in-depth interviews, to gain a deeper understanding of people’s confidence in and acceptance of COVID-19 vaccination and how this compares with other adult vaccines. The study population consists of nationally representative samples of adults (≥ 18 years of age) in three European countries (France, Hungary and Italy).
