Vaccine confidence in Gabon is high1 compared to other countries. The latest data we have for Gabon is from surveys conducted in 2020 which showed that 69% of people feel that vaccines are safe and 71% think they are effective. 89% of those surveyed said they believe it’s important for children to have vaccines and 65% feel that vaccines are compatible with their religious beliefs.
Confidence in the safety of vaccines has increased in Gabon since the first surveys carried out there. However, confidence in the effectiveness and importance of vaccines for children has declined. In 2018, 61% of people felt that vaccines were safe while 79% thought they were effective. 95% said they believed it was important for children to have vaccines.
