Vaccine confidence in India is very high1 compared to other countries. The latest data we have for India is from surveys conducted in 2022 which showed that 97% of people feel that vaccines are safe and 97% think they are effective. 98% of those surveyed said they believe it’s important for children to have vaccines and 74% feel that vaccines are compatible with their religious beliefs.
Confidence in vaccines in India has increased since the first surveys carried out there. In 2015, 90% of people felt that vaccines were safe while 89% thought they were effective. 94% said they believed it was important for children to have vaccines and 74% felt that vaccines were compatible with their religious beliefs.
