Vaccine confidence in Malawi is very high1 compared to other countries. The latest data we have for Malawi is from surveys conducted in 2020 which showed that 89% of people feel that vaccines are safe and 92% think they are effective. 90% of those surveyed said they believe it’s important for children to have vaccines and 92% feel that vaccines are compatible with their religious beliefs.
Confidence in vaccines in Malawi has increased since the first surveys carried out there. In 2018, 81% of people felt that vaccines were safe while 83% thought they were effective. 86% said they believed it was important for children to have vaccines.
