The latest data we have for New Zealand is from surveys conducted in 2022 which showed that 81% of people feel that vaccines are safe and 83% think they are effective. 83% of those surveyed said they believe it’s important for children to have vaccines and 68% feel that vaccines are compatible with their religious beliefs.
Confidence in vaccines in New Zealand has increased since the first surveys carried out there. In 2018, 69% of people felt that vaccines were safe while 79% thought they were effective. 84% said they believed it was important for children to have vaccines.
