Biography
Cheung graduated with his bachelor’s degree in Electronic Engineering from City University of Hong Kong, and PhD degree from the Chinese University of Hong Kong under the supervision of Prof. Ngan King Ngi. His thesis proposed the algorithms for the virtual view synthesis in free-viewpoint communication and focused on background modeling and image inpainting. Afterwards, he worked as a senior engineer at TCL Corporate Research (Hong Kong) Co LTD and participated in the face related classification projects for smartphones. He then moved to Tencent Technology (Shenzhen) Company Limited in the role of a researcher that led the projects about video enhancements such as denoising and colorization.
Cheung currently is a senior AI specialist in The Laboratory of Data Discovery for Health. He designs AI health products consisting of machine learning and computer vision algorithms for women. He manages the whole development from the phase of literature review to the final product launch. He provides suggestions to his teammates to solve the problems in AI implementation. He now is interested in the classification of health status with data in multiple types, and the health risk prediction that problems may happen in the coming few years.
